Pet of the Week

Sapphire

Sapphire

My name is Sapphire and I came to the shelter as a stray in January 2012. I am a 1 year old female with beautiful blue eyes! When the shelter people first saw me, they were amazed at how blue they were! I have a very shy personality, so I would do best in a quieter home. It can be very noisy and overwhelming here at the shleter, so with a little patience and socialization, I'll be well on my way to coming out of my shell. I'm very sweet and I feel the safest when you hold me close to you. With the right home, I will make the purr-fect companion!

Volunteer!

Volunteer Orientations are always on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 right here at the shelter. (Unless otherwise noted)

February's orientation will be on the 21st.

We ask that all new volunteers go through a volunteer orientation. This will allow you to become more familiar with our shelter and the rules as well as all the different things you can do to volunteer. This also includes a tour of the building and meeting all the wonderful animals. The orientation normally last for about 30 minutes.

We also have the orientation on powerpoint, so if you are interested in volunteering but can't make the orientation, just give us a call and we'll set up a time for you to come watch the powerpoint!

Did you know?

All dogs are probably descended from an animal called Tomarctus. This animal lived approximately 15 million years ago.

Stone-aged people tamed dogs to help them track game. About eight thousand years ago, ancient Egyptians raised Saluki hunting dogs. Saluki is an arabic word meaning noble one. These dogs are probably the oldest known breed.
